Turn This Very Blog Into DOfollow Because DOfollow Is Cool

The first thing I did, of course, was to turn this very blogspot into a dofollow blog. I turned to hellboundbloggers.com for help,
http://www.hellboundbloggers.com/blogging/make-your-blog-do-follow

Go to Blogger.com, click Layout then Edit HTML. If you are unsure what you are doing exactly, you may want to backup your template at this point. Check the box near Expand Widget Templates. Now search for this piece of code :

expr:href='data:comment.authorUrl' rel="nofollow"

Here delete rel=”nofollow” and now the code looks like this:

expr:href='data:comment.authorUrl'

I have spent hours trying to make sure the LINKS inside comments would also be DOfollow, but, alas, blogger at this time would not allow it. Even if you remove other 'rel="nofollow"' entries in the same Layout|Edit Html place, these removals have NO effect. So, the commenters Name/URL will be DOfollow and links within comments will be nofollow. Not too shabby for starters.

Of course, the immediate next thing is to allow name/url and anonymous posters. Go to Settings/Comments and allow anyone(including anonymous) to post. I'm posting here with a link to my other blog. The Author link should be DOFOLLOW, and this link:

annoying parking ticket blog

should be nofollow.

It worked. The way to verify this is to use firefox browser (chances are you already do use firefox) and right click on the links above, then click Properties. The "annoying parking ticket blog" link inside the comment shows relation=nofollow. The author link above "annoying parking ticket blogger matt" has no relation entry, so it is DOfollow. Great!

I have made most of my sites dofollow as well and if you keep a close eye on what people comment you can actually make your posts stronger in relation to your keywords. I don't have a problem if a someone wants to use their keywords as their name because that's why they are looking for links in the first place, to get a relevant keyword pointing back to their site. However, I do ask that they read my posts and use MY KEYWORDS in their comments. This 'blog' is 'cool' for using 'dofollow'!

Chris, Next time you post a comment here, you will see the new "Keyword Exchange" proposition. Thanks for the tip!

What is the difference between DoFollow and NoFollow?

I would like to prefer only dofollow commenting and hope there would be some extra for me.

Is it beneficial to create multiple blogs on blogger and wordpress and make them dofollow blogs

Matt @ Dofollow Cool, Plenty of Link Juice for Contributing Commenters said...

Stair Gates: the rel="nofollow" attribute tells google that you do not vouch for the content of the link destination. It is kind of mistrusting the destination. So google may not pass link juice to link destination. Not setting it to "nofollow" makes it Dofollow. So the destination gets more link juice, higher PR.

Bands: Sure, There is plenty of link juice to go around!

Home Lighting: Yes it is beneficial, I wrote about this in one or my other posts: Go Blog Archive on the right, under September 2009 then look for "Start Multiple Business Blogs"

Thank you dofollow blogger, dofollow is cool. I've been doing this to my blogger blogs for some time now but I'm still amazed at how many people leave only a link in the body of the comment and ignore the name/url dofollow feature even though I place instructions right above the comment section on how they can get a dofollow link from my blog.

Yeah, Credit Repair Guy, and I am amazed at how many folks comments I have to reject when they give me the "Great Blog, Great Creative, etc."

Like you are doing, I also give them the detailed directions on how to get the dofollow link. Oh well. If they could only read English a bit better.

As this might be the first blog I have come across where the author appears to know what he is on about with regards the rel=nofollow in blogger could I ask he visit my blog and tell me why I still have rel=nofollow in the source code, does this not make my blog a nofollow rather than a do follow. I have followed the advice and removed the rel=nofollow many times now, but everytime I revisit my HTML editor in blogger or just veiw the source code for my blog (when the comments are visible) the no follow tag is always there, automatically reinserted by blogger. Copy paste the following link to go to a page on my blog and veiw the source code http://pdarchitecture.blogspot.com/2011/02/new-build-home-lambley-nottingham.html#comments
